What is a Repositioning Cruise?
In case you have never ever heard of repositioning cruises, this is a great alternative to standard cruises and they can often mean significant reductions in costs.
The whole concept is based around the fact that at the end of the cruising season and sometimes at the beginning of the season, the cruise lines need to relocate or reposition their ships. A boat may need for example to sent sent from Southampton, UK to the Caribbean or from New York to Helsinki.
Apart from the reduces costs which often come with these relocation cruises, is the fact that the itinerary can often be quite unique and different from the standard routes. As a cruise there are usually still some very interesting destinations and stop-offs and they do normally make for very good cruises.
How to find Repositioning Cruise?
Cruise Lines do NOT tend to openly promote and advertise there repositioning and relocation cruises. The best way to find these types of cruise is to simply do a Google Search and then you will come across specific possibilities. You can also make a point to ask your Travel Agent, Tour Operator or ask the Cruise Lines direct on their help lines for Repositioning Cruise options.
